Experience Dyslexia
The Learning Center proudly hosted its 2nd annual Dyslexia Simulation on Thursday, October 13th, 2016. Parents and educators participated in research-based, hands-on activities designed to simulate the frustrations and challenges faced by individuals with dyslexia.
Participants tackled a variety of tasks allowing them to experience the cognitive processing differences of a dyslexic brain. They came away tired, but enlightened. One attendee expressed amazement and
empathy at the difficulty of the seemingly simple tasks dyslexics face each day, while another named the simulation as one of the most amazing experiences of her career as an educator.
The simulation and subsequent Q&A with Bonnie Nicks, The Learning Center Executive Director, left participants with a new appreciation and admiration for individuals with this language-based learning difference.
